Linocutting, a traditional technique<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Each engraving<\/strong> is made by hand on a linoleum plate, precision-engraved with fine gouges.\nPrints are also made by hand, using a traditional Japanese baren. Each print is thus unique<\/strong>, offering an authentic and singular character to each work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Each linocut is accompanied by smooth, thick paper, protected by transparent plastic film and, for larger formats, a rigid cardboard sleeve.\nIt is then delicately placed in a handmade origami by Sophie, representing an authentic Japanese kimono. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspired by the Kamishikimi Shinto shrine in Takamori, Kumamoto prefecture, this work features an imposing torii in the foreground, marking the entrance to a spiritual world.<\/p>\n

    Behind this sacred portal, a stone staircase rises through a dense forest, lined with lanterns (t\u014dr\u014d) and shimenawa ropes decorated with shide, the paper strips symbolizing the presence of kamis. The light filtered through the pine trees, the ascending perspective and the silence of the place invite contemplation.<\/p>\n
