Japanese print of Kyudo, the Way of the Bow

Size 21 x 21 cm

Description
Following on from my work on kendo in A3 format, I wanted to explore the world of Japanese martial arts in greater depth, this time turning my attention to kyudo (弓道), ‘the way of the bow’. For this new piece, I chose to capture the practitioner in profile, in the midst of the shooting motion. My aim was to capture the full intensity of that moment, placing particular emphasis on the absolute concentration in his gaze and the precision of his posture just before releasing the arrow. Kyudo is one of the oldest traditional Japanese martial arts. Far more than a simple archery technique, it is a spiritual discipline deeply influenced by Zen Buddhism and Shintoism. The practitioner does not seek competition, but self-mastery and the purity of the movement.
100% handmade
Each work comes with its own certificate of authenticity. Both the engraving and the printing are entirely hand-crafted on Japanese mulberry fibre paper. Thanks to this artisanal process, each print is unique and may vary slightly from one copy to another. Small natural irregularities or subtle unprinted areas may also appear, contributing to the print’s authentic character and charm.
