Here’s a hand-crafted Japanese linocut of the magnificent garden at Himeji Castle. The Koko-en Garden is actually made up of 9 different gardens, including this one, where Japanese steps mingle with ponds, superb pine trees, bridges and a house at its center. The composition of this landscape is truly magnificent, and I invite nature and Zen garden enthusiasts to visit.
The man in charge of the garden offered to feed the many Koi carp there. So I have many memories of this place, where we also ate some delicious food, as there’s a restaurant within the garden. I decided to engrave this majestic landscape to preserve this magical place in my Japanese linocut collection.
This limited edition print is entirely handmade on wenzhou paper in A3 format.
