A group workshop for an introduction to linocut printing

In this workshop you’ll discover all the steps involved in making a Japanese linocut. We’ll engrave, ink and print! In this workshop, I’ll be engraving Japanese-inspired motifs. You’ll learn how to transfer the illustration to the plate, engrave it by hand using gouges and then print it using a Japanese baren. If you’d like a personalised design, this is possible, but we’ll need to discuss the design you’d like to create beforehand. After this convivial moment of creation, you will leave with your engraved linoleum plate as well as the print that you have made on Japanese mulberry paper, and a summary sheet with references to tools and materials for an introduction to linocutting.
