Description

Explore the mystical magic of Mount Koya’s Okunoin Cemetery through this hand-crafted linocut, a work that captures a place dear to my heart. Every detail of this forest scene has been meticulously hand-engraved to reflect the unique, spellbinding atmosphere of this sacred place.

This piece features the Jizo statues, moss-covered spiritual guardians nestling in the heart of the forest. Subtle contrasts and the play of light filtering through the branches create a serene, mystical ambience, true to the atmosphere of Mount Koya. The texture and depth of each element are accentuated by traditional mulberry paper, offering an incomparable visual and tactile experience.

Each linocut print is signed and numbered, guaranteeing its exclusivity and rarity. I deliberately limit the number of copies so that each work retains its uniqueness. What’s more, a certificate of authenticity accompanies every purchase, attesting to the originality and provenance of the engraving.

Through this work, I wanted to convey the peace and spirituality one feels when walking among the moss-covered Jizo statues and the soft light streaming through the trees. I hope this linocut will help you feel the same magical, soothing atmosphere at home, and that it will evoke in you the beauty and mystery of Mount Koya.

For those interested in the beauty of Mount Koya, I’ve also created a linocut of the Koya train which leads to this very special place.

Travel to the heart of Japan through my linocuts

My linocuts are directly inspired by my travels in Japan. Fascinated by this country, its enchanting landscapes and rich culture, I create works that capture the essence of places that have made a deep impression on me. My creations reflect the diversity of Japanese landscapes, from the mystical beauty of its temples to the elegance of its maiko. Each theme is carefully chosen by myself and Sophie to offer an authentic and captivating representation of Japanese culture, and thus share with you a unique vision of this fascinating country.
