Description
In this handmade Japanese linocut, entitled “Tsukikage”, I pay tribute to the silent, evocative beauty of moonlight through the prism of the traditional art of printmaking. It’s a theme close to my heart, and one I’ve already explored with “tsukimi migi” and “tsukimi hidari“, two linocuts that refer to the famous moonlight festival. This work is a new invitation to contemplation, where light and shadow intertwine in a scene imbued with mystery and serenity. In Japanese culture, the moon is often associated with solitude, contemplation and the passage of time. “Tsukikage” evokes a suspended moment between light and darkness, between presence and absence. The term “Tsukikage” (月影) means both “moon shadow” and “lunar reflection”, evoking that soft light that illuminates without ever dazzling. Inspired by the aesthetics of traditional Japanese prints, this linocut plays on deep contrasts and delicate textures to recreate this unique atmosphere.
100% handmade creations
Made entirely by hand, this Japanese linocut print is printed on mulberry paper, a noble medium prized for centuries in the art of printmaking. Each copy is printed by hand, giving each piece a unique character, with subtle variations that make each print authentic and alive. Each linocut is signed and numbered, guaranteeing an original and precious work. Far from a simple reproduction, each print is a piece of art in its own right, crafted with patience and respect for tradition. Whether enriching a collection of contemporary Japanese prints, offering a refined gift or simply adding a touch of elegance to an interior, “Tsukikage” embodies the marriage between Japanese minimalism, symbolic depth and exceptional craftsmanship.
