Description
Here’s a handmade Japanese linocut print that captures a Torii in the heart of a lush forest on the island of Miyajima, Japan, in a striking shade of blue. Although Miyajima is best known for its famous Torii at Itsukushima Jinja, the island also offers many opportunities for leisurely walks through the forest, allowing you to discover a different side of the place. On these peaceful walks, away from the crowds, you’re enveloped by birdsong and the wind blowing through the trees. There are many opportunities to admire moss-covered statues, jizô and small shrines scattered around. What’s more, you may come across this magnificent and imposing Torii standing majestically in your path. Memories of the unique atmosphere of this place remain engraved in my mind, a soothing scene bathed in light filtering through the foliage of the trees. I wanted to immortalize this memory by transforming it into a work of linocut, to add to my collection dedicated to the art of linocut. This print is available as a limited edition and has been entirely created and hand-printed on wenzhou paper, in A3 format.
